Pike Place Market

The world-famous Pike Place market is home to artists, flying fish, pigs everywhere, started by Japanese farmers and saved from demolition in the 1960s is a magical place that is truly the heart of Seattle.

Opening a Library at Pike Place Market is a wild idea I got in March of 2025. It would be the solution to my book overflow problem, and also the start to launching my long-awaited platform. The idea was inspired by joining Folio, a secret library hidden above The Atrium. The idea was also inspired by the retirement of artist, Patrick Kerr, an Architect who sold his modern-looking black and white line drawings of Seattle’s landmarks in a small shop on the 3rd floor of the market’s Down Under.

When I walked by the vacant space that Patrick left behind, my brain put everything together and said you should look into using this space for books. The Market is already home to 9 different bookshops and it’s part of the magical experience of coming here. Why not add one more?

Except my store would not be a bookshop, it would be a Library. In recent years, having had lots of time for introspection and to revisit my life and find my self, I made the discovery that even though I spent my career working in business and technology, I am actually a Librarian.
